Vital in our Community

Judge Lewis has lived in the district for 26 years, and has served as Judge of Probate.for 8 years, continuously providing essential court services to the community throughout the covid pandemic and beyond. Judge Lewis is vested in the well-being of her community and actively contributes to local interests such as the Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Pantries (SSKP), where she is a former board member and has been a SSKP meal site server since 2006. Judge Lewis frequently lectures in the community about end-of-life, elder abuse, and probate issues.

Continuing a Tradition of Excellence

Judge Lewis believes it is important to use her education and experience to actively contribute to the betterment of the legal profession. In the past eight years, Judge Lewis has completed several hundreds of hours of continuing education credits to equip her for her role as probate judge. She regularly donates her time and energy to organizing legal education programs for attorneys and probate judges as Chair of the Continuing Education Committee of the Probate Assembly. Judge Lewis also serves as a member of the Judicial Standards, Conservatorship Guidelines, Ethics, and Executive Committees of the Probate Assembly.

Judge Lewis is a contributing author for the Connecticut Standards of Practice for Conservators, which was published by the Office of the Connecticut Probate Court Administrator in 2018. In 2016, a 70-page manual Judge Lewis co-authored to train attorneys on how to properly represent individuals in probate court proceedings was made available to the public on the Probate Administration website.
